Last year I had a huge Christmas wish . I remember this day well because I just found out that I was pregnant with Benjamin. I was about 5 weeks pregnant—-and i was terrified. Having just had 3 miscarriages & so much heartbreak I was hoping for the best but prepared for the worst. Don’t get me wrong, I was excited & hopeful but at the same time overcome with fear. Fear that at any moment this could all be taken from me —-again. I did everything i could to take my mind of things & as I got further along things got a little easier. But, I feel like I didn’t take my first real breath until that baby was in my arms.
I know many of you out there can relate & many are going through these very struggles right now. The holidays are my absolute favorite time of year but I realize it can be extra difficult & emotional for those who are having troubles. But keep on charging ahead my friends. My Christmas wish came true . Yours can too. I believe in miracles!!
What’s more fun than an Easter floral & new patent leather shoes? Being an old soul…I would have wrestled alligators to get Grace in an Easter bonnet BUT wrestling with a 3 year old just to get her out he door to church was all this preggo mama could handle. Here we are admiring each other in our Sunday Best! Soaking up these moments. I love a holiday!
Planning a 1st birthday party for New Year’s Day is not for the faint of heart! It’s right in the heart of the holiday season and just a few short hours after the biggest party night of the year (ouch)! In spite of it all….our New Year’s Birthday Bash went off without a hitch. Gracie was surrounded by all of her best friends and family and that’s all a girl can ask for. I can’t think of a better way to ring in the New Year!
Happy New Year and Happy Birthday to our girl! Cheers!
If there’s one thing I can tell you about pregnancy…it’s that you’ll get tons of unsolicited advice! But one thing really held true. So many parents told me that time would fly once the child was born. They said things like, “don’t blink“ and “you’ll wake up on day and they’ll be in college“. To which I thought…..“you’re being really dramatic“. Well, I was wrong! This has not only been the most wonderful and challenging year of my life…but it’s also been the fastest. Now that my little baby is walking and talking I really don’t want to miss a second. So, if anyone has a way to get through life without blinking….let me know!
One year ago…late at night with contractions coming moments apart I took one last look at this book and placed it in our empty nursery. I knew the next time I saw it I would have a baby in my arms. I didn’t know if it would be a boy or a girl and I certainly had no idea how much I could love this little person. But I did know that life would never be the same. Tomorrow my sweet, Grace Louise, turns 1.
Before Simon Cowell, J Lo, Paula Abdul or even Brian Dunkleman (remember him?), Ryan shared the spotlight with another host: ME!! Years ago, we hosted a game show called Gladiators 2000. It was the kid’s version of American Gladiators and it was a pretty big gig for two teenagers.
It’s been 20 years since those days on Gladiators 2000 so you can imagine how excited I was to finally catch up with Ryan all these years later.
I was 13 the last time I really got to chat with Ryan and I have to say–he hasn’t changed all that much. Ok, he’s got a few more bucks in his pocket, he’s ditched the blonde tips (Hallelujah!), and he certainly doesn’t have to share a one bedroom apartment with a bunch of other TV hopefuls anymore. But he’s still the energetic, super talented, driven as hell kid I met all those years ago.
I learned so much from watching him that summer we worked on G2000. He probably doesn’t realize it but I looked up to him quite a bit (literally and figuratively). He was such a pro and I watched his every move. I joked with him during our interview about how annoyed I was by him as a kid because I thought he was “sooooo Hollywood”. But let’s face it, everything was “sooooo Hollywood” to a 13-year-old kid from Erie, Pennsylvania shooting a big time TV show in LA. My whole family moved to LA that summer and we always joke we felt like the “Beverly Hillbillies”. We were clueless! You should have seen the look on my face when Ryan ordered sushi for lunch. RAW FISH? WHY???
He took me under his wing, and because of that I will always be his biggest fan. This guy knew what he wanted out of life even back then. He had his eye on the prize and boy did it pay off. What he’s done is nothing short of amazing but I can’t say I’m surprised. The kid was born to broadcast. He’s done it…done it better than anyone…and created an empire. And it seriously couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Seacrest next. We’ll find out…right after the break.
Today I introduced the newest member of our family, Grace Louise, to my Good Day LA family and all of you. I’ve had many TV accomplishments in my life but I have never been prouder than today when I was introduced as “Grace’s Mom”.
I have had so much fun sharing my pregnancy & now my little girl with all of you. Your well wishes & outpouring of support has meant the world. My husband and I just can’t believe Grace belongs to us & we get to keep her forever. Motherhood is beyond my wildest dreams. I have never felt so blessed and so grateful in my whole life.
I’m enjoying my time off so I can just love on my sweet little angel & hang out in our PJs all day! But I’ll be back to work in a few weeks! If I didn’t have so much stinkin’ fun at GDLA & love my co-workers SO much…I’d be tempted to stay home forever! But something tells my all of these beautiful girly outfits aren’t going to pay for themselves!
I’ll be in touch! I’m not far away. I’m updating all the time in all the usual places. Just think of all of the fun projects & adventures Gracie & I will get into!
Now back to my most important job today & everyday….being “Grace’s Mom”.
